A new oversize light air jib, designed by Wally Cross of Quantum Sails will soon be available from the HavenBuilders Store. It's made from 4.7 oz. dacron and sells for $390.00. More details soon!

Here are some photos of the light air jib. It is 8'2" on th foot, 12'9" on the luff and 13'3". Here are the regular Haven jib and the new light air jib side by side:

And here it is on my Haven:

And the bag:

I will have a page set up in the Haven Store soon. In the meantime just email me with your order:

Hi,

I sometimes use a 470 dighy class jib, which has exactly right luff length and 1' longer foot.
It works well in side wind when footed outside of the side stays. But it needs to be footed inside
when tacking. The worst thing is that the stay hits the sail turning it so that the tunnel between the
sails gets blocked.

The size of the 470 jib can be found from the 470 class rules: http://www.sailing.org/classes/ClassRules/2007/4702007_CR_220507.pdf

If I was to get a new jib it would have shorter foot with maximum hight.

By the way, we were racing with an other Haven 2 weeks ago in medium wind conditions.
We used the bigger jib and the other boat the original one - and no difference in speed!

But the 470 class spinnaker is cool!

Thanks for the input Seppo. We are continuing to perfect the new sail and it's rigging. We are also experimenting with placement of a window:

This sail doubles the jib area (from 24 sq. ft. to 50 sq ft.) it is much larger than a 470 jib. More info soon.
