POSTED FOR TOM BARNATt:
A very dear friend was building a Haven, he passed away last month at 52. His wife would like the boat finished so she can learn to sail it.Those of us involved need to know a ballpark figure as to the cost to finish , complete, to get it in the water. He was at step # 162 in the book How To Build the Haven 12 1/2 Footer, from Wooden Boat. He was building it the traditionl way, plank on frame. Hope someone can help. Thanks so much,
Tom Barnatt

Many of the steps left on the boat need to be hand fit, but some could be built off site. If ther are any completed havenbuilders that are looking for some wood work to do? this could help her out- ruder/ centerboard/ spars/ etc.

Need to understand some things. Are there people in place to finish the build? Or are they looking for someone to finish it? Where is it? They may want to think about getting a keel made by Eric Dow - $1000 I think. Review some of the old posts to get an idea of the Mahogany needed. I have a friend who is just finishing his and already is looking for something else to build. Need to know where she is first I guess.

Tom, Thanks so much for posting my question. I believe you answered my question as to cost. The two responses to my question only talked about doing the job or having someone else do it and not how much for materials. We are capable of building the boat ourselves and are not looking for help in that regard. We were just wondering how much money to finish so his widow will know what's ahead. I guess you can remove my post from the forum if you think you should. Thanks so much again, All the best Tom Barnattnext newest topic | next oldest topic
