I havent had time to search this forum and apologize for it. This has probably been asked a few times. Is there a material list for the planking somewhere. I want to start gathering cedar, but would like to know how much.
Thanks,
Danny

I bought 20, 12in wide, 1 inch thick, 16 footers and still had to scarf 4 or 5 of them. They were flitches so some were 10 wide and some 14 inch wide and all had sapwood which brought the width down also. I'm not finished yet but I'm hoping I don't have to go look for more since some had cracks in bad spots and other defects that go undetected until planing. I figure the leftovers can be used elsewhere on the boat.

Ditto. Eighteen cedar planks. Two Mahogany sheer planks. I had to scarf planks 5 and six. If I was to do it again I wouldn't be so hung up on scarfing. I probably should have done more scarfing instead of using some suspect planks. Hey ddeaton my second attempt at the dynel on the deck went well. The aft deck is done and I'm almost ready to start the fore deck.
