My Haven, the Wayward Wind is finally launched. I took a little ride under elecric power and it worked out nicely. Because the motor is mounted quite off center, it takes a little momentum to get going in a straight line, but it moves along at a good clip. I am now going to work feverishly on finishing the spars and rigging. More photos at:

Hello Brent...
I bought a used set of H-12 1/2 marconi sails. This winter I'll build gaff rigging and buy some new sails for her.

I've been doing sea trials with the oars and with the electric motor. I'm very pleased so far. A family vacation will keep me from working on the spars next week, but I hope to be under sail before the end of July.

Great looking boat Tom- Is that a VHF radio tucked into the aft deck? I wish I could bring myself to put a motor on mine.

Hello Steve...

It's an am/fm stereo with weather band and Ipod input. I like music when I sail! Speakers are on front bulkhead. I'm very pleased so far with the electric motor.

Maiden Voyage completed!!! (Labor Day, 2006)

My son and I finally got out on the Haven, raised the sails, and actually sailed! What exhileration, after 4 years of work. Winds were light and variable and the boat performed flawlessly. More later
